Mark Dobies was best known for his roles on daytime drama series such as ‘One Life to Live” and “Guiding Light,” where he first debuted as Dr. Noah Chase before later portraying District Attorney Daniel Colson on both shows. Unfortunately, he passed away on March 11th, 2025, due to complications related to age at 65.
Dobie was among many celebrities who appeared on soap operas, yet many may also recognize him from another genre entirely. Dobies made cameo appearances on many popular TV series over time – from “Sabrina the Teenage Witch,” Melrose Place and Gossip Girl to Home Improvement, Everybody Loves Raymond and Just Shoot Me! to Law & Order: Criminal Intent and CSI: Miami! In 2005 alone, Dobies also reprised Daniel Colson from One Life to Live for one episode of All My Children!
Mark Dobies had an impactful life. This became clear through comments posted to social media following his death.

On March 19, 2025, Alan Locher — host of “The Locher Room” on YouTube and former daytime TV publicist — took to social media to announce Mark Dobies’ passing at 65. Locher began by noting their ties to him: working together on Guiding Light for five seasons as an extra and knowing him as an all-around good guy; later witnessing him perform in the 2004 Off-Broadway revival of ‘The Normal Heart.'”
Locher shared posts to Facebook and Instagram remembrance Dobies as one whose roles had an impactful legacy, many with similar sentiments as Locher’s last line: “Please remember Mark’s family at this difficult time – rest in peace Mark, you will be missed!”
